Gavin Rothery has been named the Blue Square Bet North player of the month for August.

Gav is currently top scorer in the league with five goals, including two from the penalty spot, and has hit the ground running this season having missed a large chunk of the last campaign.

It comes as part of a pleasing few days for the Lions, maintaining their 100 per cent record on Monday and hearing that Simon Ainge, Josh Wilson and Stephen Brogan have been selected as part of the England C squad.
