Rothery provides the ammunition

Guiseley go into Monday’s FA Trophy draw after scoring three goals without reply against divisional rivals Histon at Nethermoor.

Gavin Rothery had a hand in all three goals as first, defender Danny Hall hit a searing half volley into the top corner on 25 minutes after Rothery’s cross had found him via a deflection.

This proved to be the highlight of a scrappy first half, but a more fluid performance in the second period saw the Lions reap the rewards.

Alex Johnson was quickest to react to Rothery’s cross and grab the second on 58 minutes before Wayne Brooksby put the icing on the cake with virtually the last kick of the game – firing home Rothery’s  cross at the far post.

Kaine Sheppard and Nathan Hicks had the best of Histon opportunities but found home shot-stopper Steven Drench in imperious form.
