Rollins In At Nethermoor

We are delighted to announce the signing of experienced forward Jay Rollins.

The 32 year-old joins the club following his departure from Worksop Town where he has spent the last four seasons.

Speaking about his latest new addition Lions manager Ian Richards said “Jay is an exceptional player with proven success at our level and in the National Leagues. Following his injury setback, he has worked hard to return to full fitness and looked sharp during the second half of last season. He has pace, quality and excellent delivery from wide areas and will excite our supporters this season.”

Jay started his career Askern Villa and Armthorpe Welfare where he caught the attention of Boston United.

Rollins then spent seven seasons with the Pilgrims where he played over 15o times and came up against the Lions on a few occasions during that period.

Then Boston boss Craig Elliot made Jay his club captain for the 2019/20 campaign where Boston finished third in the first season in their new stadium.

They came close to promotion losing 1-0 in the play off final to Altrincham who have remained in the National League ever since.

Rollins played at Boston alongside Jordan Thewlis with the pair part of the squad that was edged out by Rochdale in the Emirates FA Cup second round.

When Jay’s time at Boston was over he made the move to Nottinghamshire and helped his new side seal promotion to the Northern Premier League Premier Division in emphatic fashion racking up 99 points.

Then the Tigers finished in the play offs in the following season but were edged out by Macclesfield in the semi-finals.

A second promotion in three seasons followed when Town won 2-1 against ourselves in a final played in unusual circumstances following Stockton Town’s elimination from the final after they fielded an inelgible player.

Rollins had more FA Cup joy with Worksop when he struck against Stockport County in the first round and he won the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup in three sucessive seasons.
