Pre-season continues at Brighouse

Guiseley play their fourth friendly of pre-season on Thursday night at the Dual Seal Stadium against Brighouse Town.

The Lions picked up their first win of the close-season on Saturday with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ossett Albion, having previously lost to Bradford City and drawn with Huddersfield Town.

Trialist James Burgess grabbed the all-important goal for Steve Kittrick’s side at Dimple Wells, and he and all others trialling with the club will be eager to make a name for themselves as pre-season begins to draw to a close.

Only one more friendly is confirmed at present after the trip to Brighouse, an away fixture at Farsley AFC.

Captain Mark Bower believes fixtures such as Brighouse and Ossett Albion are “good games” for his team-mates to have.

“Brighouse had a good season in the league last year and Ossett Albion had a great run in the FA Trophy, so they are very good tests for us,” said the skipper.

Brighouse finished second in the Northern Counties East League last time out, just two points behind champions Scarborough Athletic.

They were also in friendly action on Saturday, going down 2-1 at home to Dunston UTS.

Admission for the friendly is just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
