Scott Smith joined our Guiseley AFC Academy U16’s after being released by Bradford City. Scott made his debut for the Guiseley AFC Academy in the Conference Youth Alliance League match against Harrogate Town on 11th March 2015. Scott is now in his second season with the academy.

Scott impressed ahead of the 2017/18 season and signed first team terms, he spent the majority of the season out on loan at Goole, after impressing there the young midfielder returned to Nethermoor.

Smith made a good impression in pre-season training and again signed a new deal for the 18/19 campaign.

After making 20 appearances, 15 of those were starts and scoring four goals Scott was rewarded with a new deal for the 2019/20 season.

On signing his new deal Scott said: “Hopefully in the coming season I will be injury free and get more game time. I got my chance earlier than I thought when Russ and Marcus gave me opportunities last season but all that has done is leave me wanting to play more and improve more.”

“With the quality of players they brought in last season I did not think I would be involved very much but I was very happy to be play the games I did and maybe, without the injuries, I would have had a better chance to stake a claim for a regular place.”

“I am looking forward to the new season and hope to nail down a position of my own and score a few goals. Although I am happy to play anywhere I don’t really see myself as a winger, I like to play more central.”

On 10th August 2019 Scott signed a one month loan deal with Matlock Town to link up with former Lions boss Steve Kittrick. This was extended by a further month on 13th September 2019 to 12th October 2019 after Smith had played a key part in propelling Matlock to the top of the table.

Scott Smith left the club at the end of the 2019/20 campaign and signed for Pontefract Collieries.
