On loan from Rochdale

Michael joined the Lions on 12th January 2024 on loan from Rochdale until the end of the season, the exciting winger made his debut a day later in a 2-0 win over Bamber Bridge.

Afuye nearly had the dream debut after striking the bar in the second half.

The winger joined Rochdale ahead of the 2023/24 campaign after spending the previous two seasons at Avro.

During his second season with Avro he made 34 league appearances and struck 12 goals producing many dazzling displays after only making his senior debut a year earlier.

He then trained with Rochdale’s squad before featuring as a trialist in friendlies at Chorley and Tranmere Rovers where he earned a one year contract with the National League side after impressing.

Michael was born in Ireland before moving to the North West aged 12 and helped Avro to back to back promotions and was their top scorer last season.

On 29th May 2024 it was announced that Michael Afuye had returned to parent club Rochdale following the end of his loan deal, Afuye made 15 Lions appearances in the 2023/24 campaign.
