The defensive midfielder joined the club on 17th February 2023 and made his debut a day later off the bench at Warrington Town.

The 34 year-old from Manchester won Matlock’s Managers’ Player of the Season award at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

Lees is well known to the management team having worked with them on three occasions at Ashton United, Stalybridge Celtic and Matlock Town.

Paul Phillips has previously sung the praises of the midfielder “He’s another lad who’s been there and done it and can play in a number of positions. He’s as fit as a fiddle and knows the standards I set on the pitch. He’s looked after himself and has that winning mentality which is so important.”

Mark Lees started his career in 2008 with New Mills and has gone on to play for Buxton, Ashton United, Hyde United, Stalybridge Celtic, Stockport County, Mossley and Wythenshawe Town.

On 19th May 2023 it was confirmed that Mark had left the club following the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.
