Former Sheffield Wednesday Under-21s captain Josh Ashman joined the club on 25th July 2023.
The right-sided centre-back was one of ten disappointed youngsters released by The Owls in May 2023 but he is quietly determined to prove them wrong.
He hopes that his performances with Guiseley will not only help the club gain promotion but also help him on the way back into the pro game.
Sheffield born and bred Josh started playing football at a young age and joined Sheffield Rangers. He later joined the Qualitas private academy and represented Sheffield Schoolboys.
Playing for them he was spotted by Sheffield Wednesday who then sent scouts to watch him play for his club side Rangers.
Josh joined Wednesday’s Academy at the age of 14 and played through to the under-16s when he signed a two year contract as a Scholar.
At the end of that time he was given a one year professional contract and played in the Under-23s under coach Neil Thompson.
He also progressed to become captain of the Under-21s.
Guiseley manager Paul Phillips snapped Josh up after an impressive performance in the pre-season friendly 1-0 win over Spennymoor.
On 23rd May 2024 Josh left the club to join Matlock Town, in his single season at Nethemoor the defender made 24 appearances.
