Striker Jordan Thewlis joined The Lions on 5th June 2021 after being a long term target of Russ O’Neill before returning to the club for a second spell on 19th May 2024 from Alfreton Town.

Jordan has plenty of experience of playing at this level and of playing for a Yorkshire club having twice previously been a Harrogate Town player as well as having played for Scarborough Athletic.

The Scunthorpe-raised player started playing football at the age of six and progressed through the Scunthorpe United Academy before signing a professional contract with Scunthorpe. He had two two season spells with Harrogate and spent a season at Gainsborough before signing for Boston United, where he has spent the past two Covid hit campaigns.

Thewlis, who runs his own business renovating property, scored 22 goals in 53 games for Boston and appeared in the play-off semi-final for them at the end of the 2019/20 season.

Thewlis can play as an out and out striker or as a winger but said: “I played out wide quite a bit for Boston and at Gainsborough but I prefer to play as a central striker. I think the highlight for me was scoring in the FA Cup against Rochdale.”

Thewlis is happy to link up with his new teammates at Guiseley saying: “This is the first time I have joined a club where I have not known any of the players. I don’t normally look forward to training but I am this time after being without football for so long. To keep fit I have been running and going to the gym but I find that necessary but a bit boring.”

On 22nd January 2022 it was announced Jordan Thewlis had requested to leave the club and he was sold to Spennymoor Town for an undisclosed fee.

Jordan scored six goals, including two penalties, in 18 appearances for The Lions.

Since leaving Nethermoor Thewlis netted six goals in 20 games for Spennymoor. He notched four goals in 19 games in his first season at The Brewery Field and three goals in 15 games in 2022-23 season before moving on to Alfreton Town in November 2022, where he found the net seven times in 24 games over the remainder of the season.

The Scunthorpe-based property developer then found some of his best form in the 2023/24 season, grabbing 25 goals in all competitions as Alfreton reached the National North play-offs and FA Cup second round.
