James joined The Lions on 19th February 2022.

Gale came through Derby County’s academy before signing for Long Eaton United for the cut short 2020/21 campaign where he caught the eye of the League 2 side after scoring four goals.

James made his Mansfield Town debut in November 2021 when he assisted Danny Johnson to set his side on the way to a 6-3 win over Newcastle United U23’s in the EFL Trophy.

He has gone on to feature in League Two against Scunthorpe United, Hartlepool United and Walsall whilst being named on the bench in eight other league games.

Gale made his full Lions debut on 26th February 2022 at York City’s LNER Community Stadium.

On 13th May 2022 it was confirmed that James had returned to his parent club Mansfield Town at the end of his loan deal following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season.

James made 11 appearances and netted four Lions goals after his playing time was cut short due to injury.
