Lions fan Joe Priestley previews tomorrow’s trip to York City for our last game of the decade in association with LV Bet.
On The Road: York City Football Club
Bootham Crescent, York
YO30 7AQ
Guiseley make the short trip to York as they end their Bootham Crescent campaign. Both teams want to win to keep the pressure on the teams above, however both teams also have to be aware of the fitness issue that comes with the festive period. Who will hold their nerve in our Bootham Crescent curtain call?
The Lions
Guiseley are unbeaten against Yorkshire sides this season with 2 wins and a draw. The Lions obviously go in to the game with Aaron Martin still injured and Jamie Spencer out for the festive period, Scott Garner remains suspended. Lee Shaw scored against Farsley in a 2-0 win on Boxing Day, however he will find it hard to break into the attacking lineup following a Chris Sang man of the match performance and a phenomenal 90 minutes each from Kaine Felix and Gabriel Johnson. As legs tire, youthful options Scott Smith and Nathan Newall could be of significant value.
York City
York fans may be in an indifferent mood following their 2-0 win over Bradford (Park Avenue). They surrendered their seemingly unbreakable grip on 1st place to free scoring Kings Lynn in recent weeks and Steve Watson won’t be allowing any more slip-ups, the right results could take the Minstermen top on goal difference. Strong and fearless striker Jordan Burrow will probably be Marcus Dewhurst’s main cause for concern, though Alex Kempster does have 8 goals to his name, and composed midfielder Adriano Moke will create a midfield road block that the Lions will have to break down.
