Lions fan Joe Priestley previews Saturday’s trip to Darlington as The Lions look for revenge after last week’s defeat at Nethermoor.
On The Road: Darlington
Blackwell Meadows, Grange Road
DN1 5LR
Following a turbulent few weeks, The Lions are back out on the road again looking to increase an impressive away run. With Gateshead leapfrogging Guiseley in midweek, they know a win is crucial should they want to take their playoff push into the business end of the season. Darlington are looking to take 6 points in less than 4 weeks off the West Yorkshire outfit, a draw will help neither should results occur elsewhere so both teams will be looking to win and push onwards.
The Lions
Last week at Brackley, Marcus Dewhurst took off his Guiseley shirt for the last time and has since gone out on loan to Carlisle United. New goalkeeper Brad Wade, who joins on loan from Rochdale, is likely to feature and will be looking to make an impression. Aaron Martin is suspended but Lee Shaw looked spry when he came on late last Saturday. Andrai Jones will look to continue his good form in midfield and Prince Ekpolo could push for a start after impressing in his two substitute appearances, one of them being against Darlington.
The Quakers
Will Hatfield lead his side to victory against The Lions last time out with a long range effort, he’ll be looking to work his magic from midfield again. Justin Donawa’s pace could cause problems for the Guiseley defence, and goalkeeper Liam Connell will be looking to keep a clean sheet and improve a goal difference that ranks worst in the top half of the table. Adam Campbell averages a goal every 3 games.
