Ollie Brown Signs First Team Forms

We are delighted to announce academy graduate defender Ollie Brown has signed first team forms for the 2021/22 season.

Guiseley Academy product Ollie Brown, 18, has again registered as a first team player with Guiseley AFC after continuing his improvement in first team training and in pre-season games writes Rachel O’Connor.

Brown, who is still eligible for Guiseley Academy, has been fired up to create a big impression by the progression of his former Academy teammate Nathan Newall, who progressed from producing some excellent performances for Guiseley’s first team last season to being signed on by Sunderland.

“Having played with Nathan through the Academy his progress has inspired all us Academy lads and we will be looking to emulate his success. I have just turned 18 and it was good to get game time in the pre-season friendlies. I have learned loads from everyone in and around the first team after having such a successful time with the Academy under Dave Currie. The FA Youth Cup run last season, especially the win over Bolton Wanderers, was an unbelievable experience.”

After being released by Bradford City at the age of 15 Brown joined Dave Currie’s Under-16 Academy squad at Guiseley and has made good progress being called up to train with the first team squad last season.

The young defender said:”Last season was very difficult due to Covid. We didn’t get much game time or full training. Being called on for the first team pre-season friendlies was a good experience and I am now hoping to build on that. In those games I played primarily as a right-back but I can play anywhere across the back line and I have had discussions with Marcus Bignot about my position.

“My aim now is to get into the team, to do well and help the team. I think we could make it to the Play-Off’s. I will still be eligible for the Academy if needed and I can help them out in training if Dave needs me.”

Ollie concluded by saying: “I 100 per cent feel that I am being given a great opportunity by the managers, treating me like they do the new signings, treating me like I belong and I really appreciate that.”

Ollie could make his first team competitive debut in tomorrow’s clash with AFC Fylde, get tickets here.
