National League U19 Alliance Season Curtailed

Following a National League U19 Alliance committee meeting on 2nd March it has been confirmed the 2020/21 season has been curtailed with immediate effect.

The committee unanimously agreed that no further matches should take place after considering the overall integrity of the competition and allowing member clubs to organise fixtures in their local area if they wish to when restrictions allow.

The decision was also reached to allow clubs to prepare for the 2021/22 campaign with no distractions and letting the players fully concentrate on their educational commitments.

The FA have been informed of the decision.

Dave Currie’s Young Lions only played one league fixture before the curtailment beating York City 1-0 after postponements because of Covid-19 restrictions and FA Youth Cup fixtures restricted their league action.

They did however have a good run in the FA Youth Cup knocking out Emley, Sheffield FC, FC Halifax Town and Bolton Wanderers at the University of Bolton Stadium before Cambridge United knocked the Young Lions out of the competition.

We’ll being you more news on the 2021/22 campaign for the academy as soon as we have it.
