On a sunny Saturday morning the new Guiseley AFC Management Team were at Nethermoor in front of the waiting press to give their first interviews since joining the club.
All decked out in new white Macron polo shirts they were only too happy to speak about why they have taken up the challenge here after a tough season last time out for the Lions.
First up is an interview with Joint Manager Marcus Bignot.
“I am excited for a new challenge, it is one we are all looking forward to.”
When asked about the connection between the trio Marcus said “Me and Russ have known each other for some time through our previous clubs, we share the same values and principles on football.”
“I was encouraged by what I wanted to hear from the directors, for me my next club had to be with the right people and I have certainly made the right move to work with good people and the right people.”
Bignot was keen to stress the importance of the people around him after a tough few months at Chester in his last job.
The club experienced financial problems which saw chairman come and go and all his management team depart the club.
When asked about next season’s hopes Bignot said “There is an opportunity to have a chance here but there is a lot of hard work to be done.”
Marcus also highlighted how suffering a relegation means time is needed to move the club forward again.
“We have certainly got the experience at this level, not just that we have been successful too in terms of winning this league. For us from a management point of view it is important we have time, we feel we have got that here.”
The preparations for the new campaign are well under way but the Joint Manager is ready for the training to start “I can’t wait for the first day of pre-season to get to work but there is a lot of work to be done before that, we won’t be going on our holidays just yet!”
“To the Guiseley fans you are going to get a management team and a group of players who care, who will be approachable and you will be proud of us all, together nothing is impossible.”
That was Bignot’s final message as he made his way over to the photoshoot.
