We are delighted to announce Lebrun Mbeka has re-signed for The Lions for the 2021/22 season.
After signing a new contract with Guiseley AFC midfielder Lebrun Mbeka said that he was willing to play any position the management picked him in and would give 100 per cent in any role writes Rachel O’Connor.
The soon to be 25 year-old was used in a central defensive role at times last season but sees himself more as a central midfielder.
Born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Central Africa Mbeka, now based in Rotherham after coming to the UK in 2018, said: “I will play anywhere the management want me to, I feel a duty to the management to perform in any position I am given and I promise that I will give 100% for the team and the fans.”
“We missed the fans last season when I arrived at Guiseley and I cannot wait to play for them. I can’t wait to get back on the pitch and put a shift in for them. The Guiseley fans show the players a lot of love, even when they are not allowed in the ground, and I want to hear them sing my name. That will bring so much out of me as a player.”
Mbeka says he is ready for the pre-season games to start and cannot wait to line up against Leeds United, adding: “That is the sort of game I will relish. We have trained really hard and now we are ready for the pre-season friendlies that start tomorrow at Ilkley. I am looking forward to these games, I think we are ready.”
Mbeka, who enjoys playing a number of sports including badminton and tennis, started playing football in The Congo aged ten. When he arrived in England he first played in Sunday League football before progressing up the ranks via Parkgate, Sheffield FC, Ossett Albion, Ossett United and Tadcaster Albion.
He joined Guiseley at the start of last season after impressing as a trialist in pre-season games. In last season’s programme shortened by Covid Mbeka made 20 appearances for Guiseley, two of them from the bench.
