Matt Wilson rescues a point for the Lions

The Lions managed to grab a last-gasp equaliser to ensure they left in-form Gloucester with a point, despite playing much of the game with ten men.

Josh Wilson gave the visitors the lead with a stunning free-kick early in the first half, but the game was to change when Wayne Brooksby received a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident involving Lewis Hogg.

Tom Webb then equalised shortly before half-time for the hosts, ensuring that Steve Kittrick’s men had their work cut out in the second period.

However, the Lions battled well and played some good stuff before conceding a penalty when Steven Drench was adjudged to have fouled an onrushing Gloucester forward in the box after 72 minutes.

Darren Edwards duly put his side in front from the spot but it was late substitute Matt Wilson, recently signed permanently from Alfreton, who became the hero.

The imposing midfielder managed to scramble the ball over the line in the dying minutes to rescue what could prove to be a valuable point for the Lions.
