We are pleased to announced the signing of Mark Bower, a very experienced central defender who has made over 200 appearances for Bradford City, where he was popular with fans and even captained the side.
Last season Bower, 31, was almost ever-present in the lineup at FC Halifax Town making 48 appearances with one goal to his name. Prior to joining the Shaymen, Bower had started his career with Bradford City making 189 first team appearances over the six seasons between 2003/04 to 2008/9.
The next two seasons saw him play for Luton Town and Darlington respectively making 16 starts for the Hatters and playing 13 times for the Quakers first team.
Born in Bradford in January 1980, Bower was educated at St Bede’s School, before signing as a trainee at Valley Parade and was an ever-present during the 2004/05 and 2006/07 seasons.
Made captain by caretaker manager David Wetherall, Bower also wrote a weekly column for the Bradford Telegraph and Argus and was in the regular first teamer until he eventually lost his place to Matthew Clarke after sustaining an injury in a pre-match warm-up at Accrington Stanley on New Years Day 2008.
Mark will be a great addition to our already strong defence as the club look to build on their successes in their first season in the Conference North.
