Lockwood & Penney To Face Former Club Doncaster

We are preparing an impressive list of pre-season friendlies with two major dates yet to be confirmed but have added another of assistant manager Dave Penney’s former clubs to the list with Doncaster Rovers visiting Guiseley on Saturday, 22nd July, for a 3pm kick-off.

Another club where Penney was manager, Darlington, visit Nethermoor Park on Saturday, 29th July (3pm).

Adam Lockwood also spent six years with the South Yorkshire based side making 151 appearances and scoring eight times.

Already confirmed are Championship side Barnsley at Nethermoor on Tuesday, 11th July (7.30pm) and an away trip to Northern Counties East Premier side Handsworth Parramore (at Worksop) on Tuesday, 25th July (7.45pm).

Penney managed Doncaster for five seasons in the old Conference League before taking them back to the former Football League Division Three after winning the 2003 Conference Play-Off final. At their first attempt Rovers were promoted as champions to Division Two.

In 2005-6 Penney oversaw Doncaster wins over Premier League sides Manchester City and Aston Villa in the League Cup before they lost out in the quarter-finals on penalties to Arsenal.

Penney then left the club in August 2006 feeling that he had taken them as far as he could.

Admission prices for home friendlies are yet to be confirmed.

Pre-season friendlies are included in the price of your 17/18 Season Ticket, apply online for yours now with the Early Bird window open until 30th June.
