Lockwood hoping for quick improvement

Manager Adam Lockwood is hoping for a quick improvement following the draw at Maidstone as Macclesfield Town visit Nethermoor on Saturday.

The Silkmen come into the fixture on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Eastleigh which halted their three game winning streak.

The Lions meanwhile suffered a 2-0 defeat at Chester and a 1-1 draw at Maidstone since their last appearance at Nethermoor.

Lockwood is looking for more consistency from his side “We can’t let our standards drop from where we started setting them, we need to maintain and keep improving them to move in the right direction.”

“I said from day one that I will do my upmost to improve the team and the club.”

“I have a great deal of passion for the club and I want us to do really well and control the controllables.”

“It looks like there’s a few nasty injuries which we will get some advice on to see where we stand” said the newly appointed Manager following first half substitutions of Johnson, Vidal and Rankine.

“I want to get a fully fit squad” with Danny East still a couple of weeks away from full fitness but Luke Porritt is set to return to the squad and Adam Smith has resumed training.

“I want to help the group of players achieve what they should be doing and that certainly isn’t what we are doing now.”

“We move forward and try and get some wins.”

Asked for his thoughts ahead of Saturday’s fixture Lockwood stated “Whoever you come against if you’re not right yourself you don’t stand a chance.”

“If we do that we give ourselves a big chance of improving and we need to do it quickly.”

“We need to keep plugging away and doing the things I feel is going to improve us.”

New signing Billy Whitehouse is looking forward to getting some more first-team action “It is a good experience for me, there’s potentially a lot of football to play and I want to enjoy it.”

“It will be really good and I am excited for it.”

The Leeds United youngster trained with the squad on Tuesday night “With the players we have got we shouldn’t be down there, we should be pushing to get up the table.”

“I am a full back and a winger, I do like to get on the ball a lot and attack as much as possible by getting it on the ground and playing.”

“I am really excitied, it is quite a big game, Macclesfield are a good side, hopefully we can get three points.”

Billy Whitehouse quotes from Radio Yorkshire’s audioBoom channel.
