Guiseley ended 2015 with a below-par display as the Lions fell to a 3-0 defeat against Gateshead at the International Stadium on Monday.
Coming off the back of a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Aldershot, Mark Bower’s side matched their hosts for much of the first half but were given a let-off when Jon Shaw failed to open the scoring from close range before the break.
The Lions struggled to muster much attacking threat on Tyneside and were behind less than a minute into the second half when Ryan Bowman made the most of slack defending.
Bowman had his second shortly after the hour after the visiting defence failed to clear a ball through the middle and while Nicky Boshell and Will Hatfield went close to a consolation, substitute Danny Johnson wrapped up the points late on in a difficult outing for Bower’s men.
The Guiseley boss described his side’s second-half display as “very disappointing” and will hope for a reaction when his players travel to high-flying Grimsby on Saturday.
