Lions’ unbeaten run ends with Trophy exit

Guiseley exited the FA Trophy at The Recreation Ground this afternoon as Skrill Premier side Aldershot Town delivered a thoroughly professional performance to end the Lions’ fifteen-game unbeaten run with a 3-0 victory.

The home side went ahead on 22 minutes when Ben Parker deflected Mark Molesley’s cross past a wrong-footed Steven Drench, after the Lions had made much of the early running.

The Shots showed their superior cutting edge and doubled their lead six minutes later thanks to a composed finish from Aiden O’Brien in a one-on-one with Drench following more good work by Molesley.

The tie was eventually put beyond the visitors’ reach on 63 minutes as Molesley completed a hat trick of assists to set up Jordan Roberts for the third.

It leaves the Lions with the Skrill North to focus on, with the next outing seeing Stockport County visit Nethermoor on Saturday.
