We are delighted to announce the signing of Joe Ackroyd on loan from Barnsley.

Ackroyd has signed on a one month loan deal from the League One Tykes and is eligible for tonight’s trip to Gainsborough Trinity.

The 20 year-old midfielder has been Barnsley for a decade having come through their academy before making his senior debut in an Emirates FA Cup tie at Oakwell against Barrow last season.

Ackroyd spent a spell out in Czech Republic on loan for MFK Vyškov at the back end of last season making 13 appearances and scoring one goal in the Czech National Football League.

Described as a tough tackling, creative midfielder with a keen eye for goal he was rewarded with a new contract after an impressive pre-season.

Barnsley academy manager Bobby Hassell recently described Joe as “a ‘typical Barnsley player’ – he’s high energy, has great character and great leadership qualities.”

Joe’s loan deal runs until 26th October 2022.
