The Lions are back at Nethermoor for the second home game this week on Saturday as Boston United visit for the first time since 2015 with kick-off at 3pm.
Hereford were the opponents on Tuesday night in LS20 and the 1-1 scoreline made it our 12th draw of the season so far.
Kayode Odejayi scored his fourth goal in six games with the striker in a rich vein of form since the turn of the year but it wasn’t enough for the win as The Bulls equalised early on in the second half.
Boston United sit 12th in the Vanarama National League North but have struggled for consistency in the last couple of months with just two since since the start of December.
They were also held to a 1-1 draw at The Jakemans Stadium on Saturday when Leamington were the opponents.
Former Lions Spencer Harris and Gavin Allot are both with The Pilgrims and Spencer played in the opening fixture of the season when we travelled to Lincolnshire.
Russ O’Neill admitted he was disgruntled that his side had not managed to get the win “Yes I am disappointed especially with us winning at half-time, we thought we could have come out second half and conceded early like we did on Saturday. I think it de-railed us a bit, to concede so early knocks the stuffing out of you and it was a deflected goal so it is very disappointing.”
Speaking of Kayode Odejayi’s scoring exploits since the start of 2019 the Joint Manager said “He is in a rich vein of form, he has had seven starts and six goals, it was a good finish for him.”
Three more injuries were suffered on Tuesday night with Josh Langley, Niall Heaton and Kaine Felix all forced off early, when asked about the injuries O’Neill said “We cannot seem to shake them off at the minute, we have had an horrendous run of them, well all season right from the first game. We will see how they are after tonight and hopefully they will be ok for Saturday.
Looking ahead to Saturday Russ hopes it’s a chance to back up Tuesday night’s draw with a win “It is another opportunity, it is at home and we will be looking to get three points.”
“We were a bit disappointed to only get one point tonight but if we can back it up with three on Saturday we would have taken four points over the two games. We are looking forward to it.”
