Lions out to extend run

Mark Bower’s Lions will look to extend their unbeaten run to six matches in all competitions when they face Oxford City at Nethermoor on Saturday.

Guiseley’s rejuvenation continued last weekend with a 3-0 victory over Histon in the FA Trophy and they could move into the top half of the Skrill North with victory on Saturday.

The head-to-head record is firmly in Guiseley’s favour, too; they have won both their previous meetings against Oxford, although Bower will be without Danny Hall owing to an ankle injury sustained last Saturday.

Hall has scored twice in as many games since joining on loan from Celtic Nation, while Bower will also be without Danny Ellis due to long-term injury.

Saturday’s opponents have been inconsistent of late and sit in 18th place, having drawn their last Skrill North outing 2-2 against Histon. Prior to that, they enjoyed an impressive 4-1 win over Stockport County after going down 3-2 to Harrogate Town.

Mike Ford’s men have not won away in the league this season, but Bower is not taking anything for granted.

“Oxford City have some dangerous forwards and I believe they are probably in a false position at the moment”, he told the Wharfedale Observer.

“We have had them watched recently and know that they carry a goal threat.”

Saturday’s match sponsors are Grosvenor Casinos. We thank them for their generous support and hope they enjoy the game.
