Guiseley fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to title-chasing Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday despite turning in an impressive display at Nethermoor.
The Lions – comfortably beaten at The New Lawn in October – were on top for long spells of the first half and saw Emile Sinclair go close when his effort struck both posts before evading Nicky Boshell, who was set for a tap-in.
Sinclair and Boshell threatened again before half-time but failed to make the breakthrough with Rovers coming into the game early in the second half.
Rob Atkinson had a great chance to open the scoring with a header while Sinclair saw another effort deflected onto the woodwork but Mark Bower’s men were eventually punished.
Substitute Brett Williams applied the finish after a quick counter to seal the points for Rovers, leaving Bower to take the positives from a positive but fruitless display.
The Lions are back at Nethermoor on Saturday for the visit of Braintree Town.
