Guiseley finally found their scoring boots but after taking a two one lead they went in at the break 3-2 down and despite restoring parity after the restart United scored two more goals before the Lions pulled one back deep into added time.
The home side made two changes with Will Thornton and Scott Smith in for Kaine Felix and Josh Langley who sustained injuries in Tuesday’s defeat at the hands of Hereford.
The goal fest began fifteen minutes in when former Guiseley striker Gavin Allott slotted home after Jay Rolling’s shot had taken a deflection off Thornton’s attempted clearance on to the bar leaving Allott the simple task of tapping the rebound home.
The reply however was only three minutes in coming as George Cantrill found Rowan Liburd who turned to wrong foot three defenders and slip the ball out to Cliff Moyo on the right flank for the full back to deliver a pinpoint cross that was headed home by Kayode Odejayi.
Two minutes later a sweeping move ended with Odejayi slipping the ball behind the Boston back four where Liburd steered it beyond George Willis into the far corner.
But the defensive frailties’ that have dogged the Lions this season saw Andy Hall get the wrong side of Rollins who beat Marcus Dewhurst with a low shot to square matters on 22 minutes.
Alex Purver was unfortunate to see his shot come back off the upright but six minutes later a ball to the far post was played back in for Boston centre back Lewis Gibbons to put his side back in the lead which they held on to until the break.
The home side came out fired up on the restart and were level again within two minutes courtesy of Liburd who netted at the far post after Heaton’s long throw produced a bout of head tennis which Purver eventually fired across the goal for the striker to grab his second.
Boston eventually put some daylight between themselves and the Lions as first Brad Abbott hammered a shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the area in the 70th minute and Gibbens headed home his second from a short corner to give United a two-goal advantage on 76 minutes.
Thornton and Halls went close to reducing the deficit but despite bolstering the attacking option with Curtis Morrison and Paul Clayton the home side were unable to reduce the deficit until deep into added time when Liburd head home from close range.
But with little time remaining to fashion a third equaliser Guiseley slipped to another defeat which leaves them sixth from bottom level on points with Hereford and York and just four points above the relegation places.
