Leaders Barrow just edged this top of the table clash in a scintillating contest that produced a classic game of two halves as home side Guiseley nearly came back from three goals down to grab a share of the spoils.
Adam Boyes had gone close on two occasions but the home side were ultimately undone by three goals in an eight minute spell just before the break.
First Anthony Wilson’s shot took two deflections in a crowded area to wrong foot Steve Drench and four minutes later Alex Ray-Harvey converted Dan Pilkington’s cross for the second. The winger then took full advantage of some hesitant defending to put Barrow three in front.
Guiseley pulled one back just ten minutes after the restart when great work by Oli Johnson created the opening for Wayne Brooksby to produce a sweet finish.
With the home side now playing to their full potential Tony McMillan foiled Johnson before the latter’s deft effort was foiled by the bar.
But when Jamie Crowther earned a second yellow, Brooksby took full advantage as his free kick took a deflection off Simon Grand to further reduce the arrears and although Alex Johnson thought he had earned the Lions a point his parried shot squirmed just the wrong side of the post.
