Lions look to bounce back

Mark Bower is hoping to see his Guiseley side bounce back from their 4-0 defeat to Aldershot when Gateshead visit in the Vanarama National League on Saturday.

The Lions were punished by their full-time opposition last weekend – Aldershot running out comfortable victors with two goals in either half.

Bower’s men had started the game the brighter but were put to the sword, sending the hosts into Saturday’s fixture off the back of a defeat.

Gateshead have lost just once so far this season – claiming maximum points against Aldershot, Boreham Wood and Southport to occupy fifth place in the league.

Ryan Bowman will likely offer a key threat for Malcolm Crosby’s side with six goals so far this season but Bower is focused on ensuring his side recover from last weekend.

“We’ve got to make sure this is a wake-up call,” said Bower.

“We’ve had a few pats on the back in those first four games but we’ve got to make sure we react properly and learn lessons from it.

“We can’t overreact, we’ve got a good squad of players. We’ve got to utilise it well and bounce back from Saturday.”

Please note that all Vanarama National League clubs will observe one minute’s silence before all matches played on Saturday as a mark of respect to all those who lost their lives in the Air Accident at Shoreham, West Sussex last weekend.
