Lions Local Heroes – Peter And Diana Jenkins

Charities are suffering from the Covid-19 pandemic more than most but our seventh and eighth Lions Local Heroes, Peter and Diana Jenkins, have stepped up to the mark to help.

Peter and Diana who live in Guiseley help raise funds for Martin House Hospice throughout the year, having done so for over 20 years, so they thought of an innovative way to help the charity at this unprecedented time.

They completed their own marathon walking 26 miles around Yeadon Tarn across various days, initially raising £50 offline but a family member pushed their efforts online and now they have raised £1000!

The couple, who also voluntarily run a turnstile on a matchday, were delighted with the funds raised and if you want to add to that view their JustGiving page here.

We received a nomination from a fellow Guiseley AFC supporter to raise awareness about Peter and Diana’s efforts and we were more than happy to share their story.

We all know someone who at this moment of time is quietly going about their business, but what they are doing is fantastic. So let’s share their good deeds with each other and give someone a virtual pat on the back from everyone linked with Guiseley AFC.

You can send your nominations in through via Facebook and Twitter or by email to trudi.miller@guiseleyafc.co.uk, just tell us why they are your local hero and send us a photo.
