Lions boss Adam Lockwood is looking for an improvement from his side following Saturday’s defeat at Forest Green as Gateshead visit Nethermoor on Tuesday night.
Gateshead come into the fixture on a good run of form winning three on the spin in the league but they were knocked out of the FA Cup on Wednesday night by National North side Alfreton Town.
The Lions meanwhile had a good start to October following wins against York and Southport but were also knocked out of the FA Cup by National League highfliers Lincoln City.
“We’ve come up against a good side today, we want to test ourselves against the best but we fell short” stated Adam Lockwood following the loss at The New Lawn.
However he was pleased with his players efforts “On another day it might have been a different story where we take a few chances and it changes the game.”
“We had good effort from the boys but just fell short in terms of quality.”
Despite the endeavour from his squad Lockwood feels an improvement can be made “We can improve on a lot of things from today, maybe it is a bit of a lesson for us.”
When asked about Saturday’s game the manager thinks Gateshead provide a different challenge “We are still trying to improve things, hopefully we’ll learn and we move forward into the big games that are coming up.”
“Gateshead are another good side, a different challenge, if we prepare right we will be ok.”
