Lions hit the Brakes

The Lions came away from their first ever visit to league newcomers Leamington with a 3-2 victory at the New Windmill, as Mark Bower’s men made it four wins on the spin.

Danny Forrest gave the visitors an 18th-minute lead with his first for the Lions since his return, before on-loan defender Danny Hall doubled the advantage ten minutes later with his first for the club.

Ricky Johnson immediately pulled one back for the Brakes, only for Jack Rea to restore the visitors’ two-goal cushion eight minutes later with his first Guiseley goal. Although Leamington did manage to reduce the deficit once again courtesy of Matt Dodd’s penalty seven minutes after the restart, the Lions held on for the points to extend their unbeaten run to five games.

Bower will hope his side can continue their fine run of form when Histon visit Nethermoor in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
