The Lions opened their pre-season campaign with a three nil win at Parkgate just outside Rotherham.
Manager Mark Bower fielded two different sides in each half both sides comprising mix of established players, new signings and a smattering of trialists:
First half line-up – Dan Atkinson, Danny East, Nicky Clee, Javan Vidal, Trialist, Adam Lockwood, Adam Smith, Sam Wright (trialist), Michael Rankine, Devonte Morton and Oli Johnson.
Second half line-up -Myles Foley (academy), Lee Spires (trialist), Scott Smith (academy), Jake Lawlor, Ashley Palmer, Joel Logan (trialist), Will Wells, Will Hatfield, Adam Boyes and Jordan Preston (trialist); Sam Whittington (academy) replaced Dan Atkinson in the second half too.
Oli Johnson had a shot deflected on to the bar and Adam Smith sent a couple of shots way over before Adam Boyes bagged a second half brace with two fine finishes and Will Hatfield capped an energetic display with dinking run and finish just before the end of the game.
The hosts who ply their trade in the Northern Couties East Premier Division created a couple of openings one of which brought a good save from Dan Atkinson early in the second half.
The Lions now host Championship side Huddersfield Town at Nethermoor on Wednesday (ko 7:45)
