Lions force FA Cup replay

A James Walshaw strike earned Guiseley a replay with Colwyn Bay after the Lions drew 1-1 with their Welsh counterparts.

Steve Kittrick said his side needed to approach the tie with professionalism but his words went unheeded as they conceded in the opening minute.

Rob Hopley broke clear straight from the kick-off and finished past Steven Drench to hand Bay the initiative, and it could have been two a few minutes later, but Drench was equal to Hopley this time.

Slightly against the run of play, Guiseley then levelled after a quickfire break down the right.

Wayne Brooksby was the architect, beating his man and crossing for Walshaw to score his second goal this week.

Guiseley bossed large periods of the second half but to no avail, the only two incident of note coming towards the end of the game.

Bay’s Gaz Evans and Guiseley’s Danny Boshell were sent off for two bookings.

“It was a poor game today, I think if I’d have paid my money in today I would be asking for it back”, said Steve after the game.

“Neither side played particularly well and it was an untidy game.

“We may change one or two things around, because that’s not good enough. If we want to be successful in this league and in this competition we’ve got to play better.”

The replay takes place at Nethermoor on Tuesday night.
