Despite matching their higher-ranked opponents, the Lions exited the last 16 of the Trophy as Luke Berry’s 20th-minute goal proved to be the difference between the two teams. Although going close on several occasions in the second half, the visitors were unable to find the crucial touch that would have levelled matters.

As a consequence, the Lions now resume their BSN campaign and play host to relegation-threatened Eastwood Town at Nethermoor on Saturday while Cambridge face giant-killers Wealdstone, who beat Conference South Dartford 2-0 in tonight’s replay. Having already disposed of Conference side Barrow in an earlier round, the Ryman League Premier team will obviously be no pushovers.
