Lions Coast To Second Pre-Season Win

Guiseley gave their full first team squad a run out at Bracken Edge this afternoon and came away with a comfotable 3-0 win against a Yorkshire Amateur side that last season had won promotion to the Northern Counties East Premier Division.

Fielding different sides in each half as, they did against Bradford City on Tuesday, the Lions were rarely threatened by the home side who were lacking holidaying star striker Ashley Flynn who bagged 48 goals last season.

All of the goals came in the first half with Reece Thompson scoring the first from close in after Rowan Liburds shot had been saved.

Not to be denied however, Liburd fired home a daisy cutter into the far corner from twenty yards shortly after.

Terry Kennedy made it three and easy when Garner’s header found his centre back partner and he couldn’t miss from two yards out.

Paul Clayton had the ball in the net late on but was denied by the Assistants offside flag.
