The 19/20 Vanarama National League North campaign starts on Saturday with newly promoted King’s Lynn Town the visitors to Nethermoor Park for a 3pm kick-off.

Pre-season ended in scintillating fashion for Russ O’Neill and Marcus Bignot’s side with six strikes against South Shields who are tipped for promotion from the Bet Victor Northern Premier.

Improvement has been seen from the first friendly against Bradford City with a narrow defeat to Leeds United, Harrogate Town and Scunthorpe United before wins at Yorkshire Amateur and Parkgate sandwiched inbetween a draw with Stockport County.

King’s Lynn Town were promoted from the Southern League Premier Division through the Super Play Off Final last season with a 3-2 victory against Warrington Town.

They include former Boston United keeper Paul Bastock on their coaching staff, the Assistant Manager faced The Lions many times in his 30 year playing career. Former Cambridge United, York City and Barnet striker Michael Gash headlines their attack.

The Linnets had an undefeated pre-season with a 3-3 draw with Charlton Athletic U23’s on Tuesday night following five straight wins.

Joint Manager Russ O’Neill spoke to Tom Feaheny following Saturday’s stylish win saying “I thought we were outstanding from start to finish, everything we have been trying to get into the lads has all come into fruition.”

“I think everybody is, pre-season becomes a slog, everyone is ready for it. We will be ready to go and everyone else is, we cannot wait for it.”

New signing Aram Soleman struck twice on Saturday to add to his goal against Parkgate on Tuesday night, he also spoke to Tom Feaheny saying “It is great, I couldn’t wait to sign, Marcus really wanted me and I wanted to be here, there’s some great teams to play against in a great league. The fans have been amazing, they’re great.”

“I was at West Brom for over ten years, I am really excited, I couldn’t wait for pre-season and now I can’t wait for it to start. I hope to score goals, make the fans happy and get as high as we can in the league.”
