We are adding our support to a campaign to provide gloves to keep the elderly and the homeless warm in the winter months ahead.
The players have joined forces with the local Subway at White Cross, Guiseley, to give the ‘Subway Gloves For Subs’ campaign a kick-start.
Who better to start the campaign off than the goalkeepers union of Jonny Maxted, Dan Atkinson and Steve Dickinson whose goalkeeping gloves and the stinging shots of the opposition keep their hands warm throughout the season.
The squad are supporting and promoting the Subway campaign which takes place on Tuesday, October 25th.
On that date if you take a new pair of gloves into the local Subway and hand over a £1 coin you get a Sub sandwich and a drink but also help to keep people in the local community a bit warmer this winter.
The local franchisee Ian Dawes said: “As Guiseley AFC play Gateshead on that day we are extending the time at the Guiseley branch from 11am to 7pm so that those going to the game can get involved with the campaign.
“We are very happy that the Guiseley players are supporting us in this with every player donating a pair of gloves and handing over their £1 as well as helping us to gain publicity for the project.”
Manager Adam Lockwood said: “Gloves and subs are words that fit in with what we do in football and we are happy to lend our support to this worthy cause. The players will all be chipping in their money and pairs of gloves and we hope that all our supporters follow suit as well.
“As a club we get involved in many charitable events and fundraising locally and this is something we are happy to do.”
