“We are over the moon with it, we were disappointed to come out of the wrong end of a result on Saturday.”
The former Alfreton man stressed there is more to pre-season than getting fit “Pre-season is all about getting minutes but ultimately it is also about getting a mentality, a winning mentality.”
“We asked the lads for a reaction and they were excellent tonight. There were positives all round, it was a good group effort, from back to front I thought we were excellent.”
Looking ahead O’Neill said “It is on to the next game, another difficult one where we can get some more minutes in the bank and hopefully go and win it too.”
“We need emphasis on the mentality and getting ready for 4th August and I think we have proved tonight if you get the right mentality anything is achievable.”
