We are delighted to announce that we have taken up an option in Lebrun Mbeka’s contract to keep the skipper with the club for the 2026/27 campaign.
Club captain Mbeka has made 88 appearances over the last two seasons since he returned to Nethermoor for his third spell with the Lions.
During that time the 29 year-old has played a part in a defence which has kept 28 clean sheets and he has netted six goals.
Lebrun first joined the club in 2020 after impressing on trial but his first campaign was cut short due to covid-19.
Mbeka re-signed for the following season before moving on to Boston United and then returned on loan during the 2022/23 season.
During that time Mbeka played 53 times and netted four goals bringing him to a total of 141 appearances and 10 Lions strikes.
Mbeka started his career with Sheffield FC and played for Tadcaster Albion, who he joined in 2019 after rising through the ranks with firstly Ossett Albion and then the amalgamated Ossett club, United. Prior to that he had a dual registration with Goole and Parkgate.
The popular defender, who can also play in midfield, won the Manager’s Player of the Season award at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
More player retentions ahead of the 2026/26 season will follow in the coming days.
