Ladies lose out in frustrating game at York City

Guiseley travelled to York College for the away fixture against York City Ladies on the 9th October and came away empty handed after a fantastic performance. After some close results last year between the two sides, Guiseley went to York looking for their first win of the season. This was initially halted by an early goal from a York breakthrough which saw a one on one with the keeper lead to the opener from York. With some good football and possession from Guiseley in the first half Guiseley picked themselves up, with a fearsome strike from Abi Garland hitting the top corner bringing the scores at half time at 1-1.

The second half saw some real battles between the two sides and some opportuniets were missed by both teams to take a lead. With York pressing against the Guiseley defence, they got a late winner through a fluke own goal from a York corner. Guiseley continued to press York’s defence but the game ended 2-1 to the home side, with positives taken from the good perfomance Gusieley were left still seeking their opening points.
