Lions first half line-up: 1 Hagie Damba, 2 A.Trialist, 3 Josh Parsons, 4 Oli Metcalfe, 5 Chuk Molokwu, 6. A.Trialist, 7 Jake Charles, 8 Jamie Spencer, 9 Jake Day, 10 Kaine Felix, 11 Gerrard Sam

Despite being substituted just after the half hour, Felix had already made his mark on the game by this time with two goals in the first six minutes.

The first resulted from a mistake from the home keeper leaving Felix to slot the ball into the empty net and then pounce on a loose ball and flick it home after a Trialists header had come back off the crossbar.

Jake Day had the ball in the net just before Felix left the field, to be replaced by Bailey Thompson, only to see the goal disallowed for a prior infringement.

Jake Charles went close just before the break as he latched on to a loose ball to fire through a forest of legs only to see his shot deflected behind for a corner while at the other end Hagie Damba denied former Lion Adam Priestley.

The Lions once again tweaked things at halftime with a different eleven: 13 Declan Lambton, 12 Lebrun Mbeka, 14 Prince Ekpolo, 15 Andy Kellett 16. Brad Nicholson, 17 Adam Haw, 18 George Cantrill, 19 Bailey Thompson, 20 Jordan Thewlis, 5 Hamza Bencherif and 6. A.Trialist.

The second period was a much more even affair with the nearest the home team coming to reducing the deficit being when Lambton was smartly down to his right to push the ball away on the hour.

Prior to this Nicholson had driven a shot just wide from twenty five yards but Kellett wrapped it up with 17 minutes remaining  when he cut in from the right and delivered  a sweet shot from the apex of the penalty area into the far corner.

That’s now two games played, ten goals scored and non conceded, but the Lions now face a much sterner test on Saturday at Nethermoor when Everton U23s are the visitors – ko 3pm.
