We are delighted to announce Gabriel Johnson has signed a new contract with the club for the 20/21 season.
Forward Gabriel Johnson made a big impression in his first season with Guiseley and is looking to continue his improvement in the coming season having signed a new contract with The Lions writes Rachel O’Connor.
The 23 year-old arrived at Nethermoor last summer hoping to maintain his prolific strike partnership with his Brighouse teammate Aaron Martin, who became the National League North’s leading scorer in the early stages of the season with 16 goals.
Martin came to the notice of a number of clubs and signed for Harrogate Town in March going on to play for them in the National League Play-Off final at Wembley when they gained promotion to the Football League last week.
Johnson, a former Sheffield United Academy player, will be inspired by his teammate’s quick rise up the ranks and will go into the new season hoping to make a similar impression.
Johnson made 30 starts and five substitute appearances in the past season for Guiseley scoring five goals along the way.
He would like to add to that tally in the coming season and has been going all out in the Covid 19 lockdown to maintain and improve his fitness. He explained: “With much more time on my hands I have been out on long runs into The Peak District near my home in Sheffield. It has been great discovering so many places I have not seen before.
“Now I am looking forward to getting back to training with the lads, I can’t wait for it all to begin.”
Johnson had spells as a youngster with Manchester United U-14s and Leeds United U-17s before his season with the Academy at Sheffield United. He has also played for Hallam FC, Sheffield FC and Doncaster Rovers.
Thank you to BR Needham Financial Services for renewing their sponsorship of Gabriel’s home, away and training kits for the 20/21 campaign, your support is greatly appreciated!
