John Rooney Signs For Barrow

Guiseley midfielder John Rooney has joined Barrow to continue his National League career after making 43 appearances and scoring eight goals for The Lions.

The younger brother of Wayne Rooney, John signed permanently for Guiseley last Summer following a loan spell from Wrexham at the end of the previous season.

John moved to Wrexham at the start of 2016-17 season from Chester, who he had initially joined on loan from Bury in December 2013, before signing a more permanent deal.

He was with Everton as a youngster and then signed pro forms with Macclesfield in 2008. He had 41 outings for Macc before a spell in America with New York Red Bulls and Orlando City.

John then linked up with Barnsley in 2012/13 moving on to Bury prior to his permanent move to Chester.

He made 112 appearances and scored 26 goals for Chester with 33 appearances and 11 goals for Wrexham.
