We can confirm that midfielder Joe Ackroyd has joined Warrington Town on loan for a month.

Our central midfielder has made 33 appearances this season since he rejoined the club in the summer from Barnsley.

Ackroyd will link up with the Vanarama National League North side for a month and could feature in five games for the Wire.

Town currently sit in 22nd place, six points from safety but only being kept off bottom spot because of a better goal difference than Farsley Celtic and Rushall Olympic behind them.

Ackroyd could feature in some big games for the yellows as they come up against Alfreton Town, Rushall Olympic, Chester, Radcliffe and Oxford City over the course of the next month in their bid to escape the drop and secure a third season in non league’s second tier.
