We’ve grabbed a quick chat with our new Chairman James Ferguson ahead of Saturday’s visit of Leeds United, here’s what he had to say.
“Good afternoon,
Tomorrow sees us playing our first game of a busy pre-season calendar at home to our neighbours Leeds United.
I would like to start by highlighting my gratitude for all the work, effort and time put in by all of the ground staff, directors and volunteers to ensure that the ground will be ready to host such a prestigious fixture.
With over 3,000 spectators expected to walk through the Nethermoor turnstiles it gives both sets of supporters the first opportunity to see their manager’s first pre-season in charge of their respective teams.
During the last 12 months both clubs have made several changes, both at management and board room level.
Whilst some people may be apprehensive about change, I am a great believer that the success of change is to focus all our energy not on fighting the old but on building the new.
Talking of new, the supporters are eagerly awaiting news of incoming players.
I can’t say too much at this stage but what I can clarify is that the club has identified our targets. However, due to contractual obligations we are restricted with regards to announcing any further details at this stage.
Tomorrow’s game will give our players, including some trialists, the opportunity to test themselves against higher level opposition.
It also gives Adam and the rest of the management team the opportunity to test out new ideas ahead of the new season.
As always, enjoy the game. I am sure it will be an enjoyable experience for both sets of supporters!
James”
