Guiseley Academy gave an impressive performance to progress 5-0 at Sheffield FC in the FA Youth Cup and earn a home tie against FC Halifax Town in the Third Qualifying Round, to be played in the week commencing October 19th.
Guiseley started on the front foot but had to recover from an early blow when the injured Asa Stevenson-Lowe had to go off to be replaced by Dexter Ball.
Undaunted Dave Currie’s charges opened the scoring when Lewis Hey was chopped down in the penalty area. He dusted himself down to step up and hit the penalty home.
A Josh Stones shot was then saved by the ‘keeper but he could not hold on to the ball and rebound fell to Haroon Bostan who made it 2-0.
The young Lions took this 2-0 lead into the second-half and Guiseley made a couple of substitutions with Ethan Hudson-Parker and Jake Charles going off to be replaced by Folefac Nkem and Harry Glover.
Guiseley kept up their momentum and Hey put in a good cross which Haroon Bostan headed home for 3-0.
This was soon extended to 4-0 as the impressive Hey, whose father Nicky used to play for Guiseley’s first team, set up Darwin King with a good cross which was headed home. Hey could soon follow his father into first team action as he recently signed first team forms.
Guiseley were not done yet and Bostan netted his second of the night with a long range shot to seal another excellent win.
Guiseley’s team was: Hagie Damba; Oliver Reape, Asa Stevenson-Lowe (Dexter Ball), Josh Stones, Chukwudalu Molokwu, Oliver Brown, Ethan Hudson-Parker (Folefac Nkem), Lewis Hey, Darwin King, Jake Charles (Harry Glover), Haroon Bostan.
