The academy progressed to the final Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup by defeating Rossington Main 5-0 on Thursday.
They will now travel to Shildon in County Durham to play their youth side on Wednesday 11th October 7.30pm kick-off, just three days before the senior sides of the two clubs clash in the FA Cup at Nethermoor.
The game against Rossington had the potential to be a banana skin if the Young Lions did not approach the game with the right attitude but from the outset their attitude was first-class.
A message of support from Academy graduate Ben Whitfield, now with Bournemouth, helped the players to focus.
It wasn’t long before former Centre of Excellence player Lewis Waddington broke the deadlock. The score was doubled when another C of E graduate Tabish Hussain broke through and finished well.
The next goal was a brilliantly worked team goal that involved six passes, a cross and a fine headed finish by Kayle Price.
This put Guiseley 3-0 up at half-time.
In the second-half Rossington continued to work hard and to their credit they were very difficult to break down.
However, another new recruit Jake Young pounced on a ‘keeper mistake to make it 4-0.
The performance was rounded off by a another headed goal by Price goal after a pin-point cross from Nathan Banton.
