Second half goals from Nathan Blissett and Tyrone Marsh overturned Rowan Liburd’s first half strike to send the Silkmen top of the pile while Guiseley remain rock bottom after their fifth successive defeat.
After goalkeeper Luke Coddington had denied Elliott Durrell and Mitch Hancox it was Liburd who put the visitors ahead cutting in from the left on ten minutes to beat Shwan Jalal with a fierce drive.
Alex Purver then put a low shot just the wrong side of the post as the Lions held on to their slender lead going into the break.
Town were expected to up their game on the restart and so it proved as first Blissett was denied by an offside flag and then saw Coddington pull of a superb one handed save as his shot looked destined for the bottom corner.
Guiseley then wasted a glorious chance at the other end as Callum McFadzean got to the byeline but pulled his cross behind Liburd and the opportunity was gone.
The powerful Blissett was not to be denied however as his acrobatic volley converted Danny Whitaker’s corner to square matters on 61 minutes.
Victor Nirennold made good progress down the right and played the ball in to Purver but the dynamic midfielders shot lacked sufficient power to trouble Jalal as the basement dwellers fought back.
Marsh’s 72nd-minute header then took the wind out of the visitors sails to put the home side in front but even then, the Iions could have snatched it at the death when Liburd shot over from six yards out after Jalal had parried James Roberts’ drive.
