Ibrahimi Hat-Trick Puts Young Lions Through

Another hat-trick from Albert Ibrahimi, his second of the season, sealed our U-18s’ progress to the First Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup.

The Young Lions started at a good tempo and created a number of chances before the deadlock was broken. Unfortunately it was Shildon who scored the opener after a quality corner that the visitors failed to deal with.

Having not gone behind this season it was time to see what the Lions were made of.

They dominated possession but failed to convert chances.

That was until Tabish Hussain broke free and cut the ball back for the incoming Albert Ibrahimi to smash it into the open goal.

In the second-half Shildon came into the game more but didn’t worry Fletcher Paley in goal. Guiseley missed a number of chances but the hard-working Shildon lads continued to make it difficult. That was until skipper Ibrahimi grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck. The Kovosan-born lad from Harrogate received the ball outside the 18 yard box, chopped one way, then another and slid the ball past the Shildon ‘keeper.

At 2-1 the game was still in the balance until Ibrahimi decided to finish the game with an outstanding strike from 30 yards into the top left-hand corner.

This was a truly outstanding goal which saw Guiseley clinch a 3-1 win. The Shildon lads can hold their heads up high as they conducted themselves in an an exemplary manner throughout.

The Young Lions now have to wait until 20th October for the draw for the First Round Proper with the possibility of ties against League One and Two clubs awaiting.
